That other collab assignment essay that I didn't hand in on time

COLLABORATION

What are examples of collaboration?
In today’s society there is a multitude of ways that we can collaborate with each another.
This takes many forms most commonly in day-to-day activities we undertake. For example with Co-workers at your place of employment - whether it is between just two people or in a larger group. Working together to create a better working environment for themselves or making sure that their customers are looked after effectively.
Another way collaboration is evident in daily life is collaboration in a personal relationship such as a couple collaborating over the rasing of their children or their relationship in general.
Collaboration is also a vital part of any sporting teams winning strategy: each member of the team works together to achieve a common goal – to win.
On a higher level in our society collaboration is essential. Particularly in the political arena - if politicians and other groups in our community don’t work together and collaborate effectively the structure of society could very well break down.
In relation to the multimedia industry, Collaboration within working teams is essential to produce a worthy well made product for the client. Each specific team member’s strengths and skills need to be utilized in the best possible manner and together the load is shared evenly.

What are the keys to collaboration?
Communication is the probably the most vital component of any collaboration. For the project to go smoothly each member of a collaborative group must understand what is expected of them.
The team must work together to reach their common goal. To do this each member must communicate clearly and frequently with fellow member’s of his or her team.
Ideally each team member should have equal amount of work as the other team members so that no one feels resentment that someone is doing more or less than them. Because this can cause division between members of the team.
Effective, consistent and frequent communication is essential so that the work/project gets done and everyone knows how far they’ve come along – what everyone is doing/has done and what still needs to be done.
As humans we can communicate in a multitude of ways. Verbally is the most common but with today’s technologies there are several different other ways to communicate email, sms, via phone and internet services such as web logs. If everyone is communicating then the project will be done quicker.
If nobody is communicating then no one knows what to do and therefore the work will not get completed.

CLASS COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS

During the course we have collaborated effectively in some ways. With the recent CARWASH video collaboration we eventually managed to get it together enough to complete the first parts of the overall project. This was done by frequent production meetings where we hashed out planning and creative issues. Having that planning and communication between the players in our project served to make the production on the day go more smoothly and our time was used more effectively.

When the team has failed to collaborate mostly involves the ego in regards to participation and lack of communication between team members. In this collaboration there were problems with some members of the team not having what they felt was a big enough roles while others had more to do. This was difficult to rectify because the nature of the project meant that there was few roles while there was many people. On the other hand some members of the team despite the best efforts of the people around completely failed to complete their given roles adequately. As for communication a lot of this involves people not listening and understanding what’s being said and becoming confused but failing to speak up about this fact. This caused tension between some group members.

We collaborate more effectively in future by communicating better within the group by making sure everything is clearly stated, planned and out in the open. Also all team members will be fully committed to the project and will participate equally. If everyone understands what is going on and do not bring personal problems to the table everything will go more smoothly.

Final Assignment: A proposal for a Propaganda Campaign in Support of the Multimedia Program at BRIT in the Final Term of this year

BRIT Multimedia Certificate IV Branden Barber 7/7/05
CUSGEN03A Collaborate with colleagues in planning and producing a project

Final Assignment: A proposal for a Propaganda Campaign in Support of the Multimedia Program at BRIT in the Final Term of this year

This assignment will fulfil the requirements of the Module, CUSGEN03A Collaborate with colleagues in planning and producing a project, as described in the Training Package description and elements.

It is important in order to pass the course that each element is satisfied:

1. Cooperate in planning the product and strategy for producing it.
2. Value and respect the skills of others and their contribution to the project.
3. Set up and maintain productive workplace relationships.
4. Use effective strategies for solving problems.

(Please see the Module Description for the specifics pertaining to each of these elements to refresh your memory.)

As decided in our collaborative efforts, we have tasked ourselves with the development and delivery of a proposal that will include:

the overall project concept,
timelines,
deliverables
roles

And will include mock-ups of type of presentable deliverables that will be produced as an end product.

Each student must submit their printed, stapled proposal with the full set of mock-ups from the rest of the students.

In addition to the above, the proposal must be accompanied by a cover letter with your name, student number and the date at the top, which includes:

➢ A description of the collaborative process that the class employed in working together on this project
➢ What aspects of collaborating went well for you
➢ What aspects need to be improved, why that is, and how you might improve them
➢ What you provided specifically to the proposal as a collaborator

And finally:

➢ Your self-evaluation of your participation in this exercise as described in the module description
➢ Your self-evaluation of your participation and performance in this class

In order that his project is indeed one of collaboration I would expect that everyone will participate in at least one round of editing – with the document being worked on in turns.

But how you collaborate at this point is up to you. While the process is important, we have had enough experience in the class and, using the module description as our guidelines, we know how to work together. It is how well we do this now that will dictate the quality of the final product. Assignments are due in class by 12pm on the final day of class, Wednesday June 22nd.

Final Assignment: Create and participate in a negotiation scenario

BRIT Multimedia Certificate IV Branden Barber 7/7/05
CUSGEN04A Participate in Negotiations

Final Assignment: Create and participate in a negotiation scenario

This assignment will fulfil the requirements of the Module, CUSGEN04A Participate in Negotiations, as described in the Training Package description and elements.

It is important in order to pass the course that each element is satisfied:

1. Plan the Negotiation
2. Conduct the Negotiation
3. Finalise the Outcome

(Please see the Module Description for the specifics pertaining to each of these elements to refresh your memory.)

The Final Assignment, in addition to participation in the Harvard Negotiation Module, Parking Space for Super Computer, you are to create a simple negotiation scenario which relates to the multimedia industry. It can be anything from negotiation between an independent contractor and a design agency for services on a time and materials basis, to the negotiation of an agreement between a multimedia agency and a corporate client to provide design and implementation services by a certain date and time for a certain cost.

In each case the negotiation is to be described in terms of the wishes of each party, each party’s BATNA, and you need to show three steps in the negotiation using PRINCIPLED NEGOTIATION steps.

In addition to the above, the proposal must be accompanied by a cover letter with your name, student number and the date at the top, which includes:

> A description of POSITIONAL VS. PRINCIPLED NEGOTIATION, highlighting benefits or weaknesses.

Drawing from both “Getting to Yes” as well as the handout provided early in the course should be more than sufficient for you to satisfy the above.

And:

> Your self-evaluation of your participation and performance in this class

Assignments are due in class by 4pm on the final day of class, Wednesday June 22nd.

[bmmc405] Radial Neuron Skull Drill

I was up until 1:30 last night trying to figure out how to make
smoke curl out of chimneys effectively on Flash. I'm a pedantic
bastard but I want to make this look little bit realistic.
Oh well, I achieved various results but we'll see how it goes...
I just thought I'd post something to the yahoo thing to prove that
I still exist - and I guess I do so I'm happy.
Byeee!
